Work with Us

The Mid-Hudson Workshop for the Disabled is proud of the cost- and resource-saving outsourcing solutions it provides for a variety of regional and national businesses.

Case Studies / Clients / Testimonials

We perform high- and low-tech services; even though our workers are physically and medically handicapped, there are few tasks our skilled staff cannot tackle!

Our clients range from major manufacturing concerns needing fabrication, companies seeking help fulfilling and processing orders, to entrepreneurs in search of assembly and marketing assistance for an invention.

MHW can provide many of a firm’s business needs. We have assembled mainframe computer fans and soldered circuit boards for IBM, fabricated complex aeration systems for Stamford Scientific International, fulfilled product sales orders for the Naked Earth Co., and compiled financial presentation packets for the Hudson Valley Federal Credit Union.

Our staff maintains the skill-sets necessary to effectively complete your outsourcing projects in a timely manner, and in the typical satisfaction-guaranteed fashion to which our clientele has grown accustomed.

CSI Filter Systems

Lynn Vanelli, principal of New Jersey-based CSI, came to the Mid-Hudson Workshop for the Disabled having experienced typical growing pains that plague successful developing businesses.

CSI’s products are Dacron-polyester and stainless steel braided tube systems used to filter metal filings and other debris from various metal-machining processes, affording multiple re-use of the oils used for cooling the apparatus used in the machining. The various types of tubing must be assembled to strict tolerances.

When CSI’s small production facility could no longer meet the demand for product, the firm contacted MHW via our website. After researching many outsourcing options, CSI trusted its future prosperity to the exacting and cost-effective production capabilities of the Mid-Hudson Workshop for the Disabled’s highly-skilled staff and modern 52,000 Sq. Ft. facility in Poughkeepsie, NY.

From its modest beginnings producing an average of 100 units per day, CSI now counts on the MHW to meet its precise tolerances for up to 300 units daily at peak demand.

MHW provides those units at a 16 percent savings below that which CSI could price at its launch facility. In addition, we devised a production technology that saved an additional 10 percent on an added assembly feature by eliminating a waste factor that had been written-off as unavoidable.

Naked Earth

Naked Earth, an importer of all-natural products, has been working with the Mid-Hudson Workshop for the Disabled almost 15 years.

Part of owner Martin Alcock’s extensive product line of completely natural offerings contains aromatherapy oils, sea salts, bath balms and vegetarian cheeses.

MHW fulfills Naked Earth’s specialized orders for distributors/wholesalers, retail and individual internet sales. We receive detailed instructions daily, via fax, at his designated office/fulfillment and storage space at our Poughkeepsie facility.

While researching outsource facilities, Naked Earth discovered the Mid-Hudson Workshop for the Disabled. Our pricing was more than 10 percent better than other outsourcing facilities were able to offer.

Naked Earth’s success with MHW has allowed it to add more products that we fulfill. In 2009, we will package and fulfill orders for disposable plates, trays, platters and flatware made from palm leaves. The leaves are sanitized and pressed into the shapes necessary for each utensil. Naked Earth’s continuing confidence in the cost-effective, timely outsourcing services of MHW has solidified Martin Alcock’s expectations for significant business growth.

Hunterology

An avid bow hunter, Ed Haugen devised and patented a hunter’s camouflage blind that attaches to a compound bow. But while he knew bow hunting, Ed was a novice with production techniques and marketing.

After speaking with many suppliers of raw materials and various production facilities, Ed found us. When he realized the one-stop-shopping scope of our capabilities—prototype development assistance, light manufacturing, suggestions for general and web marketing and promotion—he knew he had found a home for Hunterology.

Sealing the deal was Ed’s realization that using MHW saved him 9-14 percent over other options. The Mid-Hudson Workshop for the Disabled has since manufactured hundred of blinds. We also assisted by developing a significant, detailed contact list for publicity follow-up.

“It’s always been a good relationship with over two generations in this (machine shop/fabrication) business. We’ve never been unsatisfied.

John Mack, principal
A.W. Mack Machine Shop, Poughkeepsie, NY

“Very well-skilled and the quality of the work was magnificent and very professional.” With a rush job that would have taken CSI six-eight weeks, “They did it in three weeks, in their typical high-quality fashion.”

CSI Filter Systems, Allendale, NJ

Stamford Scientific International relies on MHW’s significant high-tech fabrication and world-wide shipping capabilities. The Mid-Hudson Workshop has manufactured our patented aeration systems for several years, always meeting our strict blueprint-supplied tolerances. Their dedicated, skilled staff has produced numerous projects for SSI, shipping our systems around the globe via the required customized pallets they build, to destinations including Dubai - United Arab Emirates, France and Mexico as well as throughout the United States. SSI very much appreciates the cost-effective outsourcing services provided by MHW and highly recommends their professionalism.

“A very valuable resource for me.  They deliver a good product to my customers and we’ve been working with them (MHW) for about 15 years.  Very conscientious and meticulous.  A very nice operation.”

Naked Earth has partnered with The Mid-Hudson Workshop for the last 13 years and I can honestly say that they have been nothing but a pleasure to work with. They are more than reliable with deadlines, very reasonable with pricing and, above all, honest beyond reproach. Naked Earth is a small family run business and as such we have to manage our day to day running costs and overheads very carefully. The fact that we are still with Mid-Hudson Workshop after all these years is an excellent testament to a first class and very satisfactory business relationship. I can thoroughly recommend them to anyone who is looking for any of the wide range of services that they offer.
